发现金狮子的人（A man who gives cash lions）

从前，有一个既胆小又贪心的富人发现了一只金狮子。他自言自语地说:“我不知道这事到底该怎么办，我心里很乱，无法打定主意。我一方面贪心爱财，一方面又胆小怕事。这样的运气是怎么回事?金狮子是哪位神明造出来的?这件事使我心中矛盾重重。爱金子吧，又害怕金子做成的狮子;心中的欲望催我去拿，性格却劝我退后。唉!好运来了，可我又不敢接受。这宝物并没有使我快乐。神给予我的恩惠，可望而不可及!这是怎么回事?我要怎么办，要采用什么方法呢?我得回去把家人带来，凭借他们许多人的力量来捉住它，我自己则站和远远地观望!"

寓意：讽刺那些既贪图财富又害怕灾害的人。Once upon a time, a cowardly and greedy rich man found a golden lion. He said to himself: "I don't know what to do about it. I'm very confused and can't make up my mind. 熊和狐狸​（Bear and fox）

一只熊总喜欢夸耀自己很爱人，他说人死了之后，他从来不咬他或伤害他，狐狸笑着说: "假如你从来不吃活人的话，我就会更重视你所说的话了。"

寓意：​拯救一个人使他不死，胜过在他死后说些安慰的话。

A bear always likes to boast about his love. He said that after a man died, he never bit him or hurt him. The fox smiled and said, "if you never eat a living man, I will pay more attention to what you say."

Moral: saving a man from death is better than saying comforting words after his death.

农夫和狼（Farmer and Wolf）

农大替牛解下犁套，牵着它去喝水。这时，有只穷凶极恶的饿狼正出来觅食，看见那犁，开始仅仅只舔舔那牛的犁套，觉得有牛肉味，便不知不觉地将脖子慢慢地伸了进去，结果再无法拔出来，只好拉着犁在田里耕起田来。那农夫回来后，看见了它，便说:“啊，可恶的东西!但愿你从今弃恶从善，回来种田吧。”

寓意：尽管有些恶人做了一点善事，但并非出于他本意，而是出于无奈。

​星学家（Astrologist）

​有位天文学家习惯每天晚上出去观察星象。有一天，他来到郊外聚精会神地观察天空，一不小心掉进一口井里。他大声叫喊起来。附近的人听到呼叫声后，走过来弄清楚了情况，便对他说：“喂，朋友，你用心观察天上的东西，却没有看地上的事情。”

寓意：人首先要做好地上的最普通的事，才谈得上天上的高深的事。

两只青蛙（Two frogs）

寓意：虑事情要全面，不要因为眼前的利益而忽视它所蛰伏的危险。
