遇到好老师是成功的一半

It’s frequently said that the power of a country lies in educating. It’s well known that the prosperity of a person depends on studying.

人们常说，国家的力量在教育。众所周知，个人的前途在读书。

To be educated we need teachers. Teachers tell us how to obtain knowledge and what to do for a happy life.

教育离不开老师。老师引领我们学习知识，获得幸福。

Generaly speaking, one has three greatest blessings. As a kid, one meets a superb teacher; as an employee, one runs into an outstanding employer; after getting married, one happens to have a considerate spouse.

一般而言，人这一辈子有三大幸事。上学遇到一位好老师。工作时能遇到一位好领导。成家时遇到一位好伴侣。

In my middle school years, I was rather weak in mathematics no matter how hard I worked on it. I was worried and depressed. I was sad and pessimistic.

上中学时，我的数学极差。不管多么努力，都无济于事。我发愁、沮丧；我难过、悲观。

Besides, my eye-sight was getting from bad to worse. Several boys bullied me and insulted me.

而且，我的视力越来越糟糕，几个男孩子还对我施加校园暴力。

Undoubtedly it’s impossible for me to pass the annual National College Entrance Examination.I would have to return to the village and live in poverty.

显然，考大学没戏了，我只能回到小村庄，穷困潦倒苦度春秋。

I was about to drop out of school when a new teacher stepped into myl ife. She was a teacher of English，whose family name was Gong.

正当我要退学时，一位新老师走进我的生活。她是一名英语教师,姓宫。

Hearing that I enjoyed reading and writing, she advided me to give up math and learn English heart and soul, for at that time I didn’ take a test in manth if I decide to choose English as my major at university.

听说我喜欢读书、写作，她劝我放弃数学，全心全意改学英语。那个年月，报考大学英语专业，可以免试数学。

What tortured me was that I was weak in English, too. I even couldn’t recite the 26 letters in alphabetical order. To make a long story short, I knew nothing about English.

折磨我的是，我的英语同样学得一塌糊涂，甚至不能按字母表的排列顺序背出26个英文字母。

Ms Gong encouraged me,, “Do be confident.Those who sow with tears will surely reap with laughter. ”

宫老师鼓励我：“一定要充满信心。含泪播种的人一定能含笑收获。”

“Thank you. I won’t let you down,”I promised her.

“谢谢老师。我不会让你失望的。”我向老师保证。

Ms Gong taught me English day and night, little by little, with patience and love. I was learning the subject every day, forgetting to eat or sleep.Before long I could speak some simple English and the grammar was a piece of cake.

夜以继日，宫老师教我英语，一点一点地，带着耐心，怀着爱心。每天，我在学习英语，废寝忘食。很快，我能说一些简单的英语，对语法了如指掌。

At last I was permitted to study at Shanxi Teachers’ University.

终于，我考上了山西师范大学。

Ms Gong changed my destiny.

宫老师改变了我的命运。

I’m not the only person who met a great teacher.

被老师改变命运的，不止我一个人。

Thomas Edison was in school for only three months. During those three months, he asked a lot of questions. Most of them had nothing to do with hislessons.

托马斯爱迪生只待了三个月。在此期间，他问了老师许许多多问题，几乎都跟课程无关。

His teacher did not understand why the boy had so many strange questions. He told Tom’s mother that Tom was not bright and was not worthteaching.

老师不明白他为何有这么多奇奇怪怪的问题，便告诉他母亲，汤姆是个笨蛋，不值一教。

His mother took him out of school and taught him herself. The boy read alot. He became very interested in science.

母亲把他带回家，亲自教他。汤姆博览群书，尤其对科学兴趣浓厚。

By the time he was ten, he had already built a chemistry lab for himself. He planted vegetables in his garden and sold them to buy what he needed for his lab.

10岁时，他已经建立了自己的化学实验室。在花园里他种植蔬菜，卖掉以后选购实验器材。

Without Thomas Edison, the world might still be in the dark. He lit up the whole world with the electric light. However, the electric light was not his only invention. He also invented 1200 other things. About every two weeks he created something new.

如果没有托马斯爱迪生，我们的世界依然漆黑一片。她用电灯照亮世界，但电灯却并非他的唯一发明。另外，他发明了1200个产品。几乎每隔两周，就能研制出新的东西。

Helen Keller was a prominent woman in the U.S.A. When she was a baby,she got sick. After a few weeks the doctor said, “Although she is better now, she can’t see or hear.”

海伦凯勒是美国备受崇拜的人物。婴儿期间，她病了。几周过去了，医生说：“虽然她病情好转，但是看不见，也听不见。”

There was no way for her to speak to other people.

她没有办法和别人交流。

As time passed, Helen’s parents sent for a teacher with the name of Anne Sullivan.She herself couldn’t see anything. She had her own way to teach Helento learn. When Helen was older, she went to college.

日子一天天过去，父母为她请来一个老师，名叫安妮莎莉文。老师本人曾经也是盲人。她用特殊的手段教会海伦学习。长大后，海伦去大学继续深造。

Helen was very famous.She helped many blind and deaf people. The world remembers her today as a brave and wonderful person. She was blind and deaf,but she found a way to see and hear.

海伦大名鼎鼎，帮助许多失明失聪的人自立自强。如今，在世界人民心中，她有勇气，有才华。她失去了听力和视力，但能听得见，看得见。

我也是老师。我觉得，老师最该给孩子——

一是给孩子多一点尊重，不唯我独尊。

二是给孩子多一点平等，不看人下菜。

三是给孩子多一点体谅，不出口伤人。

四是给孩子多一点自主，不循规蹈矩。

五是给孩子多一点幽默，不冷若冰霜。

六是给孩子多一点课外，不死读课本。

七是给孩子多一点自信，不大包大揽。

八是给孩子多一点空间，不拖堂拖沓。

九是给孩子多一点体育，不分数第一。

十是给孩子多一点隐私，不乱喊家长。

遇到好老师是成功的一半。
