Instant replay enhances awareness of the cognitive process. It obsolesces the representational, the chronological, in that it doesn’t matter in what sequence the events occurred. It retrieves meaning. You can have the meaning in instant replay without the experience. This is a rather startling aspect of the instant replay; you can have the meaning, the structure, minus the experience of the event. And it flips into corporate pattern recognition, which is easily associated with tradition. The instant replay is, perhaps, the most remarkable development of our time, and one of the most profound and metaphysical.

即时回放增强了对认知过程的感知。它使列表陈述、按年月顺序排列过时，因为事件按什么顺序发生并不重要。它重现意义。在没有体验的情况下，你可以在即时回放中明白其意义。这是即时回放的一个相当惊人的方面；你可以缺少对事件的体验而明白其意义、知道其结构。它还翻转为群体的模式识别，这很容易与传统联系起来。也许，即时回放是我们时代最值得注意的发展，也是最深刻、最形而上学的发展之一。

电子媒介使所有事件——包含前前后后的事件和五湖四海的事件——同时被感知，所以，事件按什么顺序——如时间表、地缘——发生就不重要了，重要的是当下的感知。
