When Sputnik went up on October 4, 1957, it put the planet inside a man-made environment for the first time. Spaceship Earth has no passengers, only crew. Sputnik transformed the planet into Spaceship Earth with a program problem. Ecology became the name of the game from the moment of Sputnik. Nature ended. The planet became an art form inside a manned capsule, and life will never be the same on this planet again. Nature ended and art took over. Ecology is art.

1957年10月4日，人造卫星升空的时候，它首次将整颗星球放进一个人造的环境里。地球号宇宙飞船没有乘客，只有船员。人造卫星把整颗星球转变成带有规划问题的地球号宇宙飞船。从人造卫星升空的那一刻起，生态学就成了全部有组织的活动的名称。大自然终结。整颗星球变成了一个载人太空舱里的一种艺术形式，这颗星球上的生活再也不会是原来的样子了。大自然终结，艺术接管一切。生态就是艺术。

按：人造卫星升空，使得生态学成为有组织的地球生活的名称。这是“有组织的无知”的注脚。

生态就是艺术。麦氏津津乐道生态，想的是规划，是用书面-机械的思想方法去组织和控制地球上所有的工作生活。由此可知麦氏所想的艺术，也是有组织的呈现，而非自然的流露倾泻。
