约翰坐在扶手椅上，看着女儿熟睡。女儿的胸膛随着每一次轻柔的呼吸而起伏，看起来是那么恬静。

John sat in his armchair, watching his daughter sleep. She looked so peaceful, her chest rising and falling with each gentle breath.

看着女儿，回忆涌上心头。她第一次学会走路，她第一次学会说话，她第一天上学……他记得她过去常常被他的蹩脚笑话逗得控制不住地咯咯笑，也记得当她害怕时如何蜷缩在他的腿上。

As he gazed at her, memories flooded his mind. Memories of her first steps, her first words, her first day of school. He remembered the way she used to giggle uncontrollably at his silly jokes, and how she would curl up in his lap when she was scared.

可是现在，他的小女孩已经长大。刚刚大学毕业的她，即将开启人生的新篇章。想到女儿要离开自己，约翰忍不住感到一丝悲伤。

But now, his little girl was all grown up. She had just graduated from college and was about to embark on a new chapter of her life. John couldn't help but feel a twinge of sadness at the thought of her leaving him.
