Manting Park, Jinghong, gives Yunduo'er her first ever experience of feeding peacocks and elephants. After leaving the elephants, Yunduo’er badgers us to take her back to those peacocks. With her imploring look, we have to say uncle. Then she gets another chance of fussing over the peacocks for a long time, though the sun has heated the air to a sizzling 39°C. "Mummy, get a load of the feathers spread out and up," Yunduo’er shouts excitedly.

景洪的曼听公园，让云朵儿拥有了第一次喂孔雀河大象的体验。喂完大象，云朵儿强烈要求要再喂一次孔雀，面对她乞求的颜色，我们只能答应。于是云朵儿又得到了一次无微不至关怀孔雀的机会。天儿实在太热了，39°C，但云朵儿跟孔雀呆了很长时间。“妈妈，快看，快看，开屏了，”云朵儿兴奋地喊。

Only when we wander around in this former garden of the Dai imperial family do snippets of childhood memory of Xishuangbanna given by documentaries rekindled. The park turns out to befit its status as an online crowd-draw. Lush tropical trees and plants surround a huge emerald lake. A big sister from Chongqing is feeding fishes and black swans from a bridge, and when realizing Yunduo'er is intently and expectantly watching her, she kindly gives Yunduo'er a bag of her fish food. But it is when Yunduo’er is crouching on the shore of the lake and skippering a motored boat can she commune with the fishes and swans fascinatingly close. And this is the second time Yunduo’er steers a motored boat during this journey, and she obviously has found her touch.

曼听公园是傣王室的御花园。在里面转，小时候看的西双版纳电影的些许记忆回来了。难怪这里是网红打卡地。一汪大绿湖置身郁郁葱葱的热带植被中间。一位来自重庆的姐姐从桥上喂鱼和黑天鹅，当意识到云朵儿正在羡慕地看着自己时，大姐姐便给了云朵儿一小袋儿鱼食。但只有当来到蹲在湖岸和在湖上开上动力船时云朵儿才得以以令人着迷的近距离喂鱼和黑天鹅。另外，这是此行中云朵儿第二次开动力小船，很明显云朵儿在技术上已经超有感觉了。

We move to Chufan Jiangsu Holiday Hotel in the afternoon, whose manager introduces us to what he describes as one of their top-notch riverfront rooms. Yunduo’er breaks into a trot towards the large window of the room on the fourth floor, and outside down there a stretch of Lancangjiang river is in full view. “Chenlaoshi,” Yunduo’er’s high, cheerful and mellifluous voice comes on the air from below moments later. The girl intends to impress me with her swim in the built-in swimming pool on the first floor of the hotel.

下午搬到楚樊江宿独度假酒店，一个自称酒店管家的男士给了我们一个房间，说那是他们的一线江景房。云朵儿奔向这个四楼房间的玻璃大窗，窗外澜沧江的一段河水尽收眼底。“陈老师，”过了一会儿，楼下传来云朵儿甜美欢快的喊声。云朵儿是想让我知道她在酒店自带的一楼游泳池游泳了。

We intentionally avoid a proper meal in daytime, letting hunger pangs continue, because we’re expecting what is called a “Peacock Banquet” for dinner at Daiwangfei (princess of the Dai). A purple peacock handicraft looks over an assortment of foods all cooked based on local recipes and presented in an eye-pleasing way on a wooden disc. Yunduo'er loves her rice stashed an emptied pineapple. The Peacock Banquet of Xishuangbanna makes me feel it’s truly lucky to have human taste buds.

白天故意不怎么吃饭，就是想留着肚子，等晚上去吃傣王妃的孔雀宴。一个大木圆盘上，紫色的孔雀手工艺品俯瞰当地传统烹饪法烹饪并精心摆放的各种食物。云朵儿喜欢她的菠萝饭。西双版纳的孔雀宴让我深感拥有人类的味觉方式是多么非常幸运。

Mummy buys Yunduo’er a traditional Dai girl dress and dolls her up with it at Gaozhuang Starlight Night Market. Night has fallen. Now Yunduo’er does become a Dai girl strolling through one of Xishuangbanna’s glowing gems at night.

走进告庄星光夜市，妈妈给云朵儿买了一件傣族姑娘传统连衣裙给云朵儿穿上。天黑了。云朵儿变成了傣族姑娘，走过西双版纳这个夜晚宝石一般璀璨的地方。
